By now, you’ve surely heard about, or even experienced, the anti-aging benefits that can be seen through topical retinol (Vitamin A).
Retinol is a compound that is found in green and yellow vegetables, egg yolk, and fish liver oil. Your body needs retinol for growth and for vision in low light.
A 2007 clinical study at the University of Michigan tested the anti-aging capabilities of topical 0.4 percent retinol cream. Retinol would “improve the thin skin of elderly by increasing the synthesis of more collagen in both the photoaged, and hence improve BP (Bateman’s purpura, a lesion), and the intrinsically aged human skin without causing significant irritant skin reaction,” doctors hypothesized.
After the 24-week study of 36 elderly patients, the doctors found significant differences between the retinol subjects and the control group. “Topical retinol improves fine wrinkles associated with natural aging,” they conclude in the paper, which is published in Archives of Dermatology.
Tretinoin is a topical ointment drug that is closely related to retinol. It is an acid form of vitamin A. Dermatologists and plastic surgeons commonly prescribe it for the treatment of acne and other skin disorders.
Dermesse offers Tretinoin cream in three strength levels.
- 0.025%
- 0.05%
- 0.10%
Tretinoin cream is a safe, effective treatment for:
- Fine facial wrinkles
- Mottled hyperpigmentation
- Skin roughness
The Dermesse tretinoin formula is bioequivalent to Retin-A. Treatment can restore collagen and increase collagen formation. Histological changes can be seen such as epidermal thickening, granular layer thickness, and stratum corneum compaction.
