Glycolic Acid Peel Gel

The use of Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), as a peeling agent has been a common practice dating back many years. Glycolic Acid is the most commonly used Alpha Hydroxy Peel. These peels are safe and very effective as a superficial peel and are easily performed by aestheticians, nurses, and physicians.

Dermesse formulations of Glycolic Acid can be applied on a pad or another method using the gel form.

Benefits

Since glycolic acid peels are recognized as superficial peels, the desired effects will be limited and the level of injury to the skin is usually confined to the epidermis (see cross- section of skin on back page), the outer most layer of the skin.  Chemical peels are used for the treatment of:

  • Photoaging / sun damage
  • Wrinkles, scarring, acne
  • Precancerous lesions
  • Discoloration (melasma, freckles, age spots)

Directions

Dermesse Glycolic Acid Peel products are not buffered and should only be used by medical professionals.

1. The skin is cleansed with a non-alkali cleanser, then tested with glycolic acid on a small area for allergic reaction.

2. The gel is applied evenly to all areas being treated, taking care to apply the proper amount and recording the time spent.

3. Treated areas are observed by your physician for erythema. If erythema occurs, your skin is rinsed with water or a neutralizer is applied.

4. In the absence of erythema. Time indicates when to rinse with water or apply neutralizer. Your first treatment is usually timed at 2-6 minutes. Timing may vary depending on your skin type and history of use with AHA products and treatments. Subsequent treatments may increase in duration.

5. The treated area is rinsed with large volumes of water or treated with a neutralizer.
